TEACHING

Instrumental tuition on violin and viola can be delivered by myself as well as music theory. Workshops and lectures are also catered for. Instrumental lessons cover people of all ages from beginners to post Grade 8 standard. Lessons usually take place at my home near Thirsk, North Yorkshire, however arrangements to teach at the pupil's own home can be made as well.

I am fully CRB checked, have public liability insurance and have undertaken Child Safeguarding training. Pupils of all ages and ability are eligible for lessons and will be guided through technical and musical works in order to gain good musicianship skills and grasp the history and appreciation of music for the Violin or Viola. The lessons are taught in a relaxed and friendly way but with a strong emphasis on discipline and technical ability.

Pupils will be entered for Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations, provided both student and parents/guardians are in agreement and the required standard is achieved. Other examination boards will be considered if and when necessary. If exams don’t appeal and you wish to pursue different kinds of goals, I am equally happy to work with you towards those. Students will be encouraged to perform both as a soloist and as a member of an ensemble.

I currently teaching privately and also work with Tees Valley Music Service, Harrogate Grammar School and perform at Yarm School.
